Take Advantage of Custom Packaging – Know These 6 Concerns

Most might think custom packaging is as easy as a walk in the park. While it’s not entirely rocket science, it’s also not exactly that simple to explain in one or two words. A few factors and concerns can complicate the entire custom packaging process. This includes size, color differences in terms of preview and printing batches, quantity of the minimum orders, general lead time, and compensation should anything happen to the printed product(s).

Let’s find out some of the concerns regarding custom packaging, shall we?

6 Common Concerns Regarding Custom Packaging

undefinedSize

In custom packaging printing, pay attention to these details: size, internal usable space, bag making method, hanging holes, vent holes, edge size, and other details. Once confirmed, we the manufacturers will start arrange production. The size will have +- 1-2 mm deviation, and you’ll need to let the manufacturers know if you require an exact measurement.

undefinedColor Difference

Next, for custom packaging, there is a color difference between the actual printing effect and computer screen display. Usually for pictures on computer screens, the display is in the RGB (red, green blue) color scheme. Whereas in print mode, the color scheme is in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). The color mode is different but the slight change is normal. However, the strength of the paper and light source will influence the printed color outcome. Thus, there will be a slight color difference between the computer display and the actual printing.

for example:

In the printing process, outside temperature, humidity and other surrounding environment aspects will affect the ink drying speed. So, the first batch of printing are prone to come out different from the second batch. This is due to varying time periods in the printing workshop, and other changes in the environment. Furthermore, due to the use of cylinder printing, the same artwork might appear slightly different.

undefinedThe Quantity

In custom packaging prodecure, bag producing processes include:  blow molding – cylinder making – printing – composite – drying – bag – finished product – quality inspection – packaging – out for delivery.

Let’s assume you make an order of 100,000 pcs bags. As manufacturers, we will need to prepare 110,000pcs material production. Besides the production process, there is the matter of a few wastes along the way, most from the printing, cut bags, compound wastes, and less quality inspection; plus, the matter of the printed last package being printed. So, the actual quantity is very difficult to control and we can’t really make it 100% accurate. The specific deviation refers to the following range data:

  • 10,000 PCS: +- 40%
  • 20,000 PCS: +- 20%
  • 30,000 PCS: +- 10%
  • 50,000 PCS – 100,000 PCS: +- 5%
  • 300,000 PCS: +- 3%

undefinedCustom Packaging Lead Time

Usually, unprinted custom packaging order products is about 4-5 weeks, and printing products have a delivery period of about 5-7 weeks.

But please take note should there be any particular emergency cases. This is because the production side sometimes encountered power outages, machines trouble shoots, or any other issue which is out of our control. If ever it happens, your order might be further delayed by a few days.

undefinedCompensation for Custom Packaging

Should your custom packaging products become compromised, only the conditions listed below can be eligible for request for compensation:

  1. Bag is broken
  2. The printed content is different from final preview
  3. Size different from final confirmation.
  4. Color printing (e.g., errors such as red printing black)
  5. Material differences
  6. Different type of packaging
